Jayaprakash Narayan, the ageing opposition leader imprisoned by Prime Minister Mrs. Gandhi after her abrogation of democracy in June 1975, is now seriously ill with kidney trouble at Chandigarh Hospital, located 200 miles north of Delhi. Born in October 1902, he is a follower of Mahatma Gandhi and has spent much of his political and humanitarian career in Bihar.
